General Meetings 

River Park Garden Club's general meetings typically consist of a potluck dinner, however because of concerns about covid 19, we ask that you bring your own dinner until further notice.  Refreshments and some lite desert items will still be provided.  We will have 30 minute presentation from local master gardeners and other garden enthusiasts on various gardening topics. A raffle is also included in the program.

We have four general meetings throughout our season from September to June and a catered holiday celebration in December (see schedule below).  We meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Shepard Garden & Arts Center, 3330 McKinley Blvd., Sacramento, on the dates listed below (unless noted otherwise).

Kelly Boyd - "For the birds"
Kelly will talk about luring birds (and which ones) to your yard; what plants and trees will attract them; who will come and why, and how to make the environment for them comfortable with bird houses, feeders and baths.

November 16, 2023

Charlotte Owendyk - Master Rosarian                                                                                                                Master Rosarian Charlotte Owendyk will offer her list of the best roses to grow in the Sacramento area and how to care for them successfully.

River Park Garden Club Annual Holiday Brunch

Sunday, December 10, 2023 at 11:30 a.m.  The brunch will be held at the Shepard Garden and Arts Center in McKinley Park.  Expect a catered brunch, seasonal entertainment and door prizes. RSVPs required.

California Certified Nursery Professional and Green Acres Nursery community outreach ambassador, will update us on new Sacramento-suitable plants.

April 18, 2024

"Master Gardener Panel"
Local garden science experts will answer your garden questions. Bring samples or photos of problem plants, problem spots in your garden and take notes.

April 20, 2024

"Special Garden Spaces Tour"
The self-guided tour, Saturday. April 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., will include six diverse River Park backyard gardens. Tickets are $5. Children under 15, free. (Children are welcome, but strollers will NOT be allowed in gardens.) Tickets may be purchased on the day of the tour, beginning at 9:45 a.m. at the ticket table located at 5457 Carlson on the Caleb-Greenwood School lawn. Tickets may also be reserved ahead by calling 916-454-5637.
